When Your Refuge Becomes Your Storm

There is a unique kind of pain in realizing that the person who should have been your refuge became your storm.

When the one meant to uplift you instead diminishes you, the wounds often cut deeper than ordinary heartbreak. Their words linger longer, their actions weigh heavier, because betrayal from someone so close can shake the very foundation of your self-worth.

But their inability to nurture you does not define your value.

Sometimes, the painful truth is that those who should love us most are fighting battles within themselves that spill over onto us. While understanding this may bring clarity, it does not erase the hurt.

Healing begins when you stop measuring your worth by the hands that failed to hold you properly.

You were never meant to shrink beneath someone else’s brokenness.

Even when it comes from those closest to you, you have every right to protect your peace, reclaim your voice, and remember that your value was never theirs to determine.
