Detoxified: The Epiphany

Where the Hopeless Romantic is really an Addict of Love Blinded by Desire…

Too numbered are the times

When you crept in mind

Opened the window to my soul

Took a seat and then reclined

But with the love and pain combined

A cloud formed, covered the shine

With toxic love, leading me blind

Couldn’t see to read the signs

And now my heart is redesigned

Covered in metal and cold chains

Fast cars in slow lanes

Swear my world is redefined

This thang called love is a cold game

Left my cocoon a new moth

Can’t be chasin’ no old flames

Because the feeling ain’t the same

I was cryin’ in the rain

Precipitation covered my eyes

Wasn’t no angel from the skies

Just a demon in disguise

But you attract what you are

Better yet, you keep what you accept

And before I knew it

There was a stranger in the house where I slept

Had to free myself by exorcising spirits

Glad I found the God inside

Once tried to drown the pain with spirits

Once in denial of the truth

I wouldn’t hear it

You stay clear of mirrors

Because your reflection, you fear it

I now walk a different path

And your toxic love, I won’t go near it
