Despite any hardships in my life, I try to prioritize being grateful over being self-pitiful.
Meaning I can focus on my problems and dwell in a pool of helplessness or I can focus on solving problems and dwell on things for which I am grateful.
I try to begin each day with a feeling of gratefulness.
Recently, I hit a good stride with draft four of my upcoming novel. This came after a couple of months of writer’s block.
After completing my latest editing session today, I sat back to reflect on the things for which I am grateful. That list is long.
In the grand scheme, there is one that stands out: I am grateful for the messengers in my life, or as I like to call them, the angels in my life.
We often like to think of angels as these ghost-like beings with wings. But angels walk among us all the time in human form.
These angels can come from many different walks of life. They are not always the pristine, well-dressed pastor in the pulpit or the self proclaimed guru who speaks at corporate events, literally selling you the message of prosperity.
According to dictionary.com, an angel can be defined as a messenger, especially of God.
Here’s the twist. The angel could have a body full of tattoos and could be from one of the most poverty stricken areas on earth.
Don’t be so quick to judge a book by its cover. A book with a dirty cover can still contain valuable information within its pages.
Expand your way of thinking so you can recognize God’s angels and the message they bring.
The message may come from a former criminal who has since taken the righteous path. He has nothing to sell you, only divine information and a life that is a living testimony.
But if you are blinded by prejudice and toxic programming, you may just reject the message that could’ve led to your own salvation and ultimate success in life.
My message to you today is twofold: 1) Lead with compassion and gratefulness. 2) Learn how to recognize God’s angels and the message they bring.
