I was born innocent in this world of sin
But soon lost my innocence as I begin
Into this world of passion, earthly desire, and evil winds
Given a world that I did not create, but must touch
Before even understanding love, already consumed by too much lust
Finding myself a key participant in things that I disgust
Mind clouded by too much distrust and mistrust
Of those that become close
And soon float into the abyss of those I loathe most
Often amongst the devious, haunted by my own ghost
For the hate in this world kills my spirit
Lost to the point that I do not even recognize my own voice when I hear it
I do not even recognize my own essence when I am near it
Why do we hate the unknown?
Because we fear it
Yet, I chose, in time or on time, that I would recognize
The Creator’s creation with my own eyes
Basked in the sun, washed by the water, and guided by the moon
Following the Shadows of a Lost Soul walking the earth
Hoping to find my way soon
Author’s Commentary:
We are all lost at some point in life. Reconnecting with my inner self and reconnecting with nature helped me find myself again.
In this busy, capitalist society in which many of us are responsible for family and making a living, it becomes easy to lose yourself in the everyday flow of life.
Don’t forget to find time to self-reflect, walk on the grass barefoot, and smile.
